Would you like to share your experience? (anonymously)
If any of the carers or relatives would like to write a short article about their experience of JIGSAW that would be marvellous (anonymously of course).
The deadline for WAC to receive a copy March 1st 2019. Please email them.
We've received a grant!
We have recently received a grant from the Councillors divisional fund for £500 from Councillor Tom Wells. I will be writing to thank Tom and we look forward to being able to purchase our marketing and publicity materials in the coming weeks.
'Engage Malvern' - inaugural AGM
We have been contacted by a new organisation called Engage Malvern. I will be attending their inaugural AGM (agenda) on Monday 11th February at 6pm at Lansdowne Methodist Church, WR14 2AW (map). They are a small group of retired professionals who are interested in improving social care in Worcestershire. They plan to work with councillors and interested parties to improve services. One area they are looking at is rural transport. I hope to feedback at next months meeting. If anyone would like to attend with me please let me know. - Sue
JIGSAW has now been linked up to the Worcestershire Association of Carers online training platform. This will enable the committee members to complete the online training on safeguarding. The policy is still in the development stage and will be discussed again at the next committee meeting. It is important for us as an organisation to get this policy finalised as it is a requirement for the Charity Commission and for Community First who enabled us to receive our grant from Comic Relief.
Sue will forward the Charity Commissions Newsletter Issue No. 62 to the committee members as it has important information about Safeguarding and about the standards of Annual Reports and Financial Reports.
We're in the newspaper!
JIGSAW had an article printed in the Worcester Journal and the Malvern Gazette on 13th December 2018. We can read it here, but if anyone has a cutting from the original paper that they could photocopy that would be most welcome.
Mindful Eating course
The 4 week Mindful Eating course which was due to start at the end of January has been postponed until 18th March. There is also a 'Mindful Self Compassion Course' which is due to start on Feb 27th for 8 weeks. JIGSAW has funds for carers to attend mindfulness courses.
If anyone is interested please visit their website: www.malvernmindfulness.co.uk for more information and I can advise how to apply online.
There is a new Spring term for the Pilates. The sessions are all on a Tuesday starting at 6.45pm. The dates are:
February - 26th
March - 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th
April - 2nd, 9th
They are held at St Matthais Church in Malvern Link (map). If you would like to come and join us, it costs £6 a session, but you are welcome to have a free taster session to see if you like it. Contact Debbie for any questions (email).
